The Center for Creative Living is a full service counseling
facility located in Coral Springs, Florida for over 20
years. We offer specialized counseling services for adults,
adolescents, and children. We provide individual, couple,
family, and group therapy. Treating depression/anxiety,
anger issues, marital/family conflict, men's/women's issues,
child/teenage problems, life development conflicts, i.e.
mid-life transition, grief, infertility/adoption issues
and co-dependency problems. We offer psychological and
neuropsychological testing and treatment for such conditions
as Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD/ADHD), learning disabilities,
gifted abilities, and various affective/behavioral disorders
as well as treatment.
Dr.
Ron Mercer, Co-Director and Corporate and Community
Director of our center, specializes in the treatment of
men's issues, adolescent oppositional defiance disorder,
marital therapy, and hypnotherapy. As a men's issues expert,
Dr. Mercer conducts groups and workshops for men entitled
"LifeMasters".
Dr.
Ron Mercer was among the first psychologists called to
New York shortly after September 11 to provide critical
incident counseling. He has authored a self-published
book, "911: Critical Incident" about his experience
there, as well as several other books including "Little
Boy Lost" and "Men in Pause".
On a corporate and organizational level, Dr. Ron Mercer
facilitates training workshops to enhance communication
and values in the corporate culture, bridge gender differentials,
and promote wellness. These workshops are available in
the workplace, on retreat, or at the Center.
Dr.
Mercer is also a certified Family Business Coach, providing
these specialty services to family owned businesses, to
help them navigate through the rocky waters of interpersonal
and business conflict in order to grow and to achieve
optimal prosperity.Dr. Mercer is also the director of
our Creative Potential program, which is geared toward
treating performing artists and athletes to minimize pre-performance
anxiety and enhance optimal performance. We are one of
the few clinical psychology centers in South Florida that
deals specifically with treating the adult and child performer.
Our Creative Potential clinicians are trained and experienced
both as therapists and performers, giving them the knowledge
and direct insight in empathy regarding life, pressures,
expectations and joys of performance. Our array of services
is available to performers and family members. This specialized
clinical service also includes assisting individuals and
team sports participants of all ages and proficiency levels
to enhance their athletic competence.
Susan
Schwartz-Mercer, MSW, LCSW Co-Director and Clinical
Director of the Center, specializes in treating anxiety
disorders, depression, couples and family issues, grief
counseling, support for chronic and terminal illness,
and adoption issues. In addition to being a therapist,
as former director of Advocates for Children and Families,
Susan is also a private adoption consultant who facilitates
adoption by conducting birth parent interviews, adoptive
parent home studies, and life long adoption related therapy.The
Center for Creative Living also offers group therapy,
and currently offers a women's group, a mixed gender group,
and an adolescent group. Along with our two directors,
we have highly trained and specialized psychotherapists,
who are licensed and offer years of experience, and educational
backgrounds. They lend the Center their expertise in additional
specialty areas, including geriatric counseling, substance
and abuse therapy.
