Dr. Ron Mercer
is Co-Director and Co-Owner of the Center for Creative Living, a private psychological practice in Coral Springs, Florida, with his wife Susan Schwartz-Mercer, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. He is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who has studied abroad, in Norway, as well as in the U.S.

Ron Mercer holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Tampa, in Florida, an MS in Counseling Psychology from Nova University, Florida, and an MS and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Miami Institute of Psychology; additionally, he holds a second Ph.D. in Psychology, specializing in Men's Issues and Adult Development from the Union Institute in Ohio.

Dr. Mercer provides individual, couple, group and family psychotherapy and specializes in Men's Issues Therapy, treating adolescents with Oppositional Defiance Disorder, and marital therapy. He works with performing artists and athletes to help them reach optimal levels of performance. Dr. Mercer provides psychological and educational/intellectual testing; he works in the corporate/organizational arena as a consultant, enhancing communication skills, minimizing stress in the workplace, achieving overall wellness, and conflict resolution. Additionally, he is a specialist in custody evaluations and therapy for the Family Court of Broward County.

Ron Mercer is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), the American Counseling Association (ACA), the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), and the American College of Forensic Examiners International.

Dr. Mercer offers various lectures and workshops, including "LifeMasters", "The Art of Being Human", "Intimate Partners - Separate Identities", "Magic, Wellness, Mayhem and Men's Issues", "Men-in-Pause", "Bridging and Accepting the Gender Differential", and his newest seminar, "The Ultimately Responsible Child". He also runs groups for men and women, and periodic groups for adolescents.

In addition to traditional therapy, Dr. Mercer's experience also includes 10 hours of training in Hypnotherapy for the cessation of smoking and phobias, 40 hours of training in advanced hypnosis for treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and early memory regression.

He has authored four books, including "Men-in-Pause", "Little Boy Lost", "9-11: Critical Incident", and "The Host". In addition, he has created three hypnosis/self-improvement tapes that include "Optimal Golf", "The Performing Artist", and "Cancer Wellness". All are available for purchase.

Complimenting his career in Psychology, Dr. Mercer has performed as a
professional vocalist/musician throughout South Florida, and has incorporated music into many aspects of his therapy, including many of his workshops.

Dr. Mercer is not currently participating in any managed care and is not a provider on any insurance panels. He provides treatment exclusively on a fee-for-service basis. Sliding scale fees are available. He is, however, a participating provider on several Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), including Compsych, FEI Behavioral Health, The Allen Group, APA Partners (Palm Beach County Firefighters Assn & Rescue), and Managed Care Concepts.
