The Center has a full staff of Therapists and a Neuropsychologist, each with different training and orientations, giving the client the ability to work with a therapist who is just right for him/her.

Susan Schwartz-Mercer

M.S.W., L.C.S.W., B.C.D.

Susan Schwartz-Mercer has been working in the field of psychology since 1965. She holds an undergraduate degree from SUNY Buffalo and a Masters degree in Social Work from Barry University. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, member of the National Register of Clinical Social Workers (NASW) and she is a Board Certified Diplomate. She is a member of the South Florida Society for Trauma-Based Disorders and The South Florida Association for Psychoanalytic Psychology.

In addition to being a therapist, Susan is a private adoption consultant who facilitates adoption by conducting birth parent interviews, adoptive parent home studies, birth parent and adoptive parents meeting and life long adoption related therapy. Susan facilitates women's and couples groups, and also conducts lectures and seminars on issues such as healthy marriages and families, parenting, and adoption related issues.

Susan is currently a provider on Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida PPO, United Healthcare, Medicare, Managed Health Network, and Value Options. She is also a participating provider on several Employee Assistance Programs (EAP's), including Compsych, and FEI Behavioral Health. Naturally, Susan is available for fee-for-service therapy. Sliding scales are available.

Lakshmi Subrahmanian

M.S., L.M.H.C.

Lakshmi Subrahmanian is a licensed Mental Health Counselor who provides individual, marital, group, and family counseling. She is a graduate of Nova Southeastern University and has a Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling. Lakshmi is also a licensed clinical supervisor. She has been working as a counselor since 1996 and was licensed in 1999. She brings to her work a strong multi-cultural perspective. She specializes in treating depression, grief, stress and marital counseling, as well as working with parents and families. Lakshmi is a trained ICAN Cancer Care Counselor. She also speaks 3 Indian languages: Hindi, Bengali, and Tamil.

Lakshmi is currently a provider on Cigna Healthcare, Horizon Behavioral Health (Humana), Magellan (Aetna), United Behavioral Health, Beech Street, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida Health Options (Mental Health Network), University of Miami Behavioral Health (Avmed), Champus (Military), Corphealth and Best Choice. She is also a participating provider on several Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), including APS Motorola, FEI Behavioral Health, Harris Rothenberg EAP, Managed Care Concepts, the North Broward Hospital District, St. Barnabas, and Compsych. Additionally, Lakshmi is available for fee-for-service therapy. Sliding scales are available.

Melanie McMillion

MS, LMHC

Melanie McMillion, MS, LMHC  holds a BA in Psychology from Palm Beach Atlantic University, and a  MS in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University.  She has been licensed in the State of Florida since 1997.

Melanie has 20+years of clinical experience working in hospice, palliative care, and bereavement. In hospice Melanie has led many initiatives; Director of PsychoSocial, Spiritual Care, and Bereavement, Children's Camp Director, Counselor, and a Community Educator.  Through her work she has extensive experience assisting persons with chronic and terminal health issues, caregiver stressors, and loss and grief.  Melanie works with individuals and families, and facilitates support and therapy groups. Melanie is a State Certified Clinical Supervisor and provides clinical supervision for individuals pursuing MHC and FMT licensure. Ms. McMillon is a dynamic lecturer and workshop facilitator on the topics of grief and loss, professional ethics and boundaries, stress management, caregiving, advance directives, end of life care, and professional leadership.  She is available to present at small or large events and will customize the lecture material based on your needs. She serves on the SE Florida Scleroderma Board, Broward Area Aging & Disability Advisory Counsel, SNALA Board (Skilled Nursing Assisted Living Alliance), South Florida Trauma Based Disorder Association Board, and is a member of Broward Coalition on Aging, the Whole Care Network, and Broward Caregiving Coalition

Steven Mutchnick

L.C.S.W., B.C.E.

Steven Mutchnick, LCSW, BCD is a practicing psychotherapist with more than thirty years of clinical experience in a wide range of mental health settings. He brings a wealth of experience to the Center for Creative Living working with individuals, families and couples. Mr. Mutchnick has been the Clinical Director of Jewish Family and Children's Service in Miami and Sobriety Now in Cooper City, an outpatient treatment center for persons with addictive disorders.

Mr. Mutchnick specializes in the treatment of mood disorders, couples issues, stepfamilies and addictive disorders in coping. Mr. Mutchnick assists clients to utilize their strengths by altering faulty thinking patterns and developing coping skills for effective problem solving. Mr. Mutchnick is a certified supervisor who has trained numerous clinicians to obtain their licenses.

Janice Weintraub

Janice Weintraub is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Florida and a certified hypnotherapist. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), the Academy of Certified Social Workers and a member of the South Florida Society for the Study of Trauma Based Disorders.

Ms. Weintraub was graduated Summa Cum Laude from Herbert H. Lehman College in New York and received a Masters in Social Work from Barry University in Miami, Florida. Her post-Masters studies include outpatient Co-Dependency Certification from the John Bradshaw Center in California, Inter-Intra Personal Strategic Psychotherapy and Hypnosis training, and she is a Certified Neuro Linguistic Programming Practitioner.

Practicing psychotherapy in West Broward since 1985, she is dedicated to uncovering the resources within us all for healthy change, and facilitating that growth and healing process. Her experience is a full range of mental health issues, including recovery from childhood trauma/abuse, depression and anxiety, dissociative disorders including post traumatic stress disorder, and the related addictive compulsive behaviors such as co-dependency, eating disorders and domestic abuse issues. Ms. Weintraub is a lecturer and workshop facilitator and has written on societal issues related to family violence and healing. She works with individuals, couples and families and facilitates support and therapy groups.

Janice currently accepts Florida Medicare and some PPO "Out of Network" benefits. Sliding scale fees are available.

Rocio

Rocio Ramirez

M.S., L.M.H.C

Rocio Ramirez, holds a Master Degree in Mental Health, from Nova Southeastern University.  As a Licensed Psychotherapist, Ms. Ramirez treats children, adults, couples and families, to help resolve a diversity of mental health issues.

Ms. Ramirez also holds a Bachelor Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from University of Puerto Rico, and offers nutritional counseling, to work with "body self-image" issues.  She has also recently re-re-certified in Pranic Healing, and Pranic Psychotherapy.  This modality utilizes prana (energy) as well as colors, to spark the mind's inborn ability, to heal itself.  This powerful tool can be used to complement clinical psychology and psychiatry.

Ms. Ramirez speaks Spanish and English fluently, and works on a sliding scale fee.  She is a provider for Cigna, Aetna, Humana and Compsych.
